Alternatives for Battered Women of Rochester has teamed up with Verizon. If you are either giving or getting a new cellphone for Christmas, you can donate the old phone to help ABW put phones into the hands of victims of domestic violence.
It is called the HopeLine program. Drop off ANY cellphone at ANY Verizon location (the phone can be any brand and does NOT need to be a Verizon phone) and Verizon will forward them to a central location for reprogramming and, then, put them into the hands of those who need them. Please do NOT bring phones to the ABW drop-off location nor mail them to ABW nor Verizon.
