As you know, Hurricane Ike wreaked havoc on the Gulf Coast of Texas over the weekend. As you may also know, the Houston area, specifically Galveston County, is where our own Jeremy Newman lives.
Here's what you need to know first: Newman and his family are safe. No one in his family, thank God, has been injured.
Here's the story from a radio trade magazine called Inside Radio:
1,600 miles away, a Rochester personality loses everything to Hurricane Ike.
Jeremy Newman co-hosts mornings on Entercom country WBEE-FM, Rochester, NY (92.5) from his home in Bacliff, TX near Galveston Bay. But the storm
surge washed through his house. Newman says “It’s a complete nightmare.” He tells WHEC-TV that he found some of his belongings a few streets away. Newman and his family evacuated Friday with as much as they could take. While he doesn’t have insurance to cover the loss, Newman remains upbeat. “I can get new stuff. I’m healthy. My family is healthy.”
Use the navigation at the top of this page to see some videos and photos Newman has posted.
Please keep him and his family in your prayers, as they are in ours.
